George Raymond "Ray" Stevenson (May 25, 1964 - May 21, 2023) was a Welsh actor who had been involved with both the Marvel and Star Wars franchises. He was also Firefly in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Stevenson was also Dagonet in the 2004 King Arthur film. His other roles in film and TV included Rome, Black Sails, The Three Musketeers (2011), RRR, Dexter and others to name a few.
He was mostly known in the Marvel Universe as Frank Castle/The Punisher in 2008's Punisher: War Zone and voiced the character in the animated The Super Hero Squad Show. After playing the Punisher, Stevenson was cast as Volstagg in the first three Thor movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Stevenson had also involvement with the Star Wars franchise, notably the voice of Gar Saxon in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels.
Stevenson died on May 21, 2023 while filming the movie Cassino in Ischia in Italy, four days what would have been his 59th birthday.
